Thanks for the post! In Germany [Gmail] may be [Google Mail]. Try that, if your folders don't appear!
to get rid of the "All Mail" folder (or any others like Starred, Important, etc), go into the Gmail setting panel:Settings -> Labels and uncheck what you don't want to show up in the IMAP view.Then to get rid of things in the sylpheed client, do a rebuild view.

When you delete a message it actually goes to the Trash folder in gmail. I still have to figure out how to remove "All mail" from listing.
